Financial Support

HCSS provides financial support to residents of Hanover County who have a developmental disability, substance use disorder, or mental health issues. HCSS receives vetted referrals for financial assistance through our collaboration with Hanover County Community Services. At this time, HCSS is not accepting requests for funding outside of open CSB cases.

Respite Support Guidelines:

HCSS provides up to $250 (per request) in respite funding for our clients to participate in extracurricular or life skill development activities. It may not be used for therapy services, daycare, family vacations or expenses related to vacations, or memberships to local museums or public attractions, including admission tickets/passes to YMCA, local pools, Kings Dominion or Busch Gardens/Water Country. It is intended to offer an individual with a developmental delay an opportunity for a fun, enriching program that he/she would not get in the academic/therapy arena. Examples include life skills, tutoring, camps, dance classes, art classes, karate, gymnastics, and swimming lessons.

  • Each applicant is eligible for a maximum of $500.00 per calendar year (January-December) in respite care funds. ($250.00 x2 if needed)
